== EVENT STORY & MECHANICS ==
= EVENT STORY =
As fighting on the northern front comes to a close, Clan Nightriver has continued its grinding fight in The Pass and is making preparations to supply itself for the coming year of war. The large clan is known to wield great combat power, like during the previous civil war, although fully mobilizing and supplying across its large territory has proven to take time. While keeping fair amounts of its warpacks on the frontline, many of their people return home to help take in the harvest and make preparations before winter sets in. Nightriver’s people are not alone in this, as the fighting is expected to die down across both sides of the fronts as winter sets in which will interrupt travel and clans will be able to take limited action without risking exhausting supplies going into the next year.
Internally, Clan Nightriver finds itself at a tense junction as they have been leaderless, with their warleader having been deciding the clans direction in the conflict; bloody and retaliatory. Holmar Bloodmoon, Warleader of Clan Nightriver, has promised the clan that Clans Grimward and Stonetooth will pay for their dishonorable slaying of Clanleader Branthur Nightriver as he has personally marched Nighter’s warpacks west to war. With Holmar’s strong backing from his revenge-seeking clan he announced his nomination for Clanleader, and many believe Holmar to be a strong military leader and proven Warleader, although his questionable past that lead to the title gives some pause and concern to his ability to lead during future peacetimes.
His is not alone though, as Packleader Sylvir Bloodmoon’s name is placed forward by her followers. Being the leader of Pack Bloodmoon, Sylvir has become known for her strong command within her pack and her sternness in keeping her people honorable. While many acknowledge her effective leadership and reliable kinship with adjacent packs, some worry for her ability to manage the clan due to its larger scale than just a single pack.
Furthermore, Jarl Laela Nightriver has recently begun her steps further into the spotlight. Her notable actions as an ambassador to aid in striking peace between Clan Grimward and Clan Stormjarl years back were when her name first became known to outsiders, and she has grown into a confident leader trained by Branthur Nightriver himself until his brutal demise by Grimward hands. While many of Branthur’s supporters have moved to follow her, her declaration to remove Holmar Bloodmoon from his position as Warleader if she is named Clanleader has many worried for the clan’s ability to be led on the field during the ongoing war.
While other names for leadership have come and gone, these three strong contenders have remained. Many Packleaders, Chieftains, and other notable figures aim to be present at the soon upcoming moot, along with travelers from other lands. While outsiders will not have a vote in this matter, many expect there to be opportunities to rub elbows and potentially even sway opinions. Tensions are high as leaders meet, Clan Nightriver’s future will soon be sown.
= EVENT SPECIAL MECHANICS=
1) Representatives & Rubbing Elbows
A number of representatives for Clan Nightriver and their allies may be in attendance. They will be discussing topics important to their respective groups and interacting with them will be a great way to learn more about what is going on within the clan. They may be seeking out different players or factions to get information from them to take back to their groups. Be aware though... proper social etiquette will be important in dealing with them! This would be a great opportunity to use Resources:Gather Info /Resources:Political ahead of time or interact with politically minded players to learn what these might be. Giving the wiki a good read in the Ulven FAQ and the Titles of Prestige and Peerage page a good read could be very useful!
Ulven FAQ
Titles of Prestige and Peerage
2) Peaceful Assembly & Causing Trouble
Out-of-Game, there cannot be any combat in the Wizard Quest building so we don't damage things. In-Game, there are numerous guards and security forces nearby the assembly room to deter and control any trouble. There may be some encounters that could develop, but these are coordinated ahead of time and not competitive with combat mechanics. Players could potentially "take things outside" to settle things if needed, but staff can coordinate that at the event.
Any players that attempt to steal or start a fight and run in the assembly hall will be subject to warrior guards trying to detain or kill them (depending on severity). Characters can assume that "Clan Nightriver warriors are ever present, nearby enough to respond fairly quickly but not hovering over everyone at the assembly". Should a character be attempting to flee, dice rolls will be made to determine their fate.
3) Controlled Environment (Weapons & Trades)
Visitors to the assembly are being allowed 1 single handed weapon (sword, axe, mace, dagger, etc) unless they are officially part of the security force of the assembly (which would require prior approval in-game) or received special permissions in-game. This is NOT an out-of-game rule; this is an in-game policy and players are free to adhere to it or break it if they so choose (but be aware there are in-game consequences).
Tradeskills that require physical setups (like Blacksmiths, Healers, Alchemists, etc) are prohibited during social and political functions. However, trades that do not require physical setups (like Bards or Companions) are allowed at the assembly.
4) Provided Food & Catering Stipend
The Moot Coordinator of Clan Nightriver has made it publicly known that a stipend has been made available to help cater in foods for the political gathering. They are offering a small payment of silver for organizations and individuals who bring dishes to share. The amount and quality of food brought to share will be factored into the payment. The budget will be able to pay between 1 to 3 silver pieces per dish with a maximum of 10 silver per individual caterer. All dishes must be displayed in decorum legal trays/containers and have appropriate serving ware (eg. a large spoon for dishing servings). All offered food will be placed on a communal table for others to enjoy. This is purely optional and a fun way to incorporate players into the food of the event and bringing along an impressive dish may even help impress others. Clan Nightriver will be providing a taco bar (beef and chicken) with some toppings for all attendees to enjoy. Players will need to bring feastware with them; none will be provided.
If possible, please coordinate food being brought ahead of time by emailing us at lasthopelarp@gmail.com!

- If a player is going to be late and they are going to arrive after registration closes, they are expected to notify the staff by emailing the lasthopelarp@gmail.com address to let us know.
- This allows us to prep their NPC materials or pull their PC cards prepare their items/coin for when they arrive. Failure to do this may result in a forced NPC role if the player arrives after the briefing as all registration supplies are packed up and put away.
- This does not mean we do not have wiggle room; all you have to do is notify us ahead of time via email so we can prepare accordingly.
= MANDATORY CHECK-OUT =
- All players are required to properly check-out at every event; this means that all in-game items and PC cards with PC conditions will be turned over to Staff for proper record keeping.
- We will be doing a dedicated Check-Out after each day.
- If you plan on leaving before the end of the event day/scheduled Check-Out time, it is your responsibility to seek out Staff in order to properly check-out.
- If you checkout as a PC, you may not "check back in" after a period of time. Once you check out as a PC, your PC is done for the event day.
- There may be limitations on how and where PCs can check out at an event; ask instead of assuming if you feel like your PC would leave early, and then staff can assign you a role after that.

== HELP! THIS IS MY FIRST EVENT! ==
- It is understandable (and normal) to be completely lost and overwhelmed coming to your first event.
- Staff and/or Veteran players will be on hand to help guide you and answer questions. We want your first event experience to be a positive one!
- It is very normal for staff and players to be running around doing things to get the event going on time; you may need to seek out someone with a gold belt flag and ask for assistance.
UPON ARRIVAL
- When you arrive, the most important thing is checking to see if you need to park in specific areas.
- Make your way to Check-In, wherever that is for the event. This will be where a number of players are at and also where Staff are at checking people into the game. This is also where Staff can guide you to the proper areas (such as New Player Helpers or NPC Wranglers)
AFTER CHECK-IN
- Once you have checked in, the most important person/station for you to search for is the "NPC Wrangler". This is usually 1-2 Staff members that are taking care of garbing up and handing out NPC roles.
- There will be time available to make sure you are prepped for your NPC role. This is a great opportunity to ask questions!
- If you need anything else from your vehicle or for any setup, this would be the time to do so.
BEFORE BRIEFING
- Once you have your NPC role and you know who you can contact for questions, there is usually extra time before the event briefing.
- During this time, we will do a Combat Tutorial so you know the basics of combat. This usually takes about 30 minutes, so try to factor that into your event arrival time.
- There will be announcements of when briefing will take place; make sure you are available to listen to the briefing of an event as it covers a lot of story, safety, and property information.
AFTER BRIEFING
- Normally right after briefing, all NPCs and the NPC Wranglers are assembled into a group to discuss NPC roles, any connections they may have, answer more questions, and review the overall event theme/goal.
DURING EVENTS
- Once "Game On" is called, it is very important to maintain decorum in the game area. This can be very intimidating at first!
- If you need anything, please discreetly find a gold belt flag staff member and ask for assistance. Most of the time we will move off to the side for a quick out-of-game clarification or move out of the game area entirely to be able to have a full discussion.
- If you are confused on what to do, please seek out staff discreetly to double check your NPC motives and goals or discuss ideas on what you can do.
AFTER THE EVENT
- All of your borrowed garb, gear, coin, etc will get returned back to the NPC Wrangler as soon as the event is over.
- This will also be a chance to discuss any meaningful interactions you had as an NPC that we might want to follow up on
- The NPC Wrangler and potentially other staff will be available to answer any questions you have.
