*NOTE: Signing up a PC to get involved in one of the encounters available DOES require a membership to do so:

- Standard allows 1 PC to focus on 1 option (or NPC option, as above)
- Premium allows up to 2 PCs to focus on 2 options (different or the same, or NPC option, as above).
To clarify, you may focus on 2 options. Either with 1 PC taking both option slots, or 2 PCs splitting the options slots
== STORY INFO & SPECIAL MECHANICS ==
Life returns to normal after the Grand Winter Festival in Aylin's Reach was the center of attention for many travelers for well over a month. Now the focus is back to the daily efforts of getting through winter. All across the continent people focus on their own needs, communities, and business dealings.
Word soon spreads through numerous settlements that some of the Ulven leaders of several Clans are doing a call-out for aid to be sent north to The Shield. There is no dire situation or massive Mordok attack but there are outposts reporting various challenges they are facing between needing firewood, rotating garrisoned warriors, tending to stubborn wounds, or helping with patrols there is always a willingness to receive aid especially in the winter. No one can logically say that the line of outposts on The Shield to the north is not critical to the defense of Mardrun but the reality is that it is a considerable resource drain on most of the continent.
A caravan is being assembled in Clan Ironmound territory just north of The Pass through the Great Wolf's Hackles mountains and will be venturing north to the defensive line of outposts to provide aid. Wagons and caravans of food, supplies, and volunteers will be assembled and have already begun to gather. Branthur Nightriver of Clan Nightriver has been the most prominent voice in coordinating and encouraging this, supported by various Clans. Clan Grimward has failed to answer hawks sent to them, rumor saying they intend to support The Shield on their own without assistance from the colonists. Representatives arrive on Aldorian and Newhope doorsteps with lists of things needed and an assertive stance; the Ulven leaders are not making this support of The Shield voluntary. Prince Aylin is seen graciously giving aid to this cause with the City-State of Newhope matching the efforts. Neither colonist group wants to ruffle any feathers of the Ulven especially with the Celestial Arragonnes expedition incident still fresh on everyone's minds.
The caravans will begin to depart from Ironmound territory soon after plans are finalized on how to visit the outposts and provide aid. Volunteers are required to check-in with Caravan Master's and Ulven Chieftains that are coordinating this effort so that an inventory can be taken of talents, skills, abilities, and supplies so they can be applied effectively once they arrive at the outposts.
This month, players can choose to either support this resupply and aid effort heading north or focus on their own stories.
= MEMBERSHIP VIRTUAL ENCOUNTER SPECIAL MECHANICS =
1) Optional PC/NPC Involvement Encounter and Deadline
Players this month have some options to get involved in the current story line if they so choose. This DOES require Standard or Premium memberships for PCs to be involved; Basic memberships allow an NPC involvement.
A Basic membership allows a player to be involved as an NPC group as dictated by the story surrounding the event. This will not have a tremendous impact but is still a great way to be involved!
A Standard membership allows a player to involve ONE PC/NPC in ONE option.
A Premium membership allows a player to involve ONE PC/NPC in TWO options, ONE PC/NPC in ONE option twice for a boost, -OR- TWO PCs/NPCs in up to TWO options total.
You simply sign up via the link above and detail out which PCs are involved and what their "focus" is.
The options available are:
1) SUPPORTING THE SHIELD: This virtual encounter will focus on the large-scale caravan assembling in Clan Ironmound territory and heading north to help the outposts. Unique skills and abilities will be coordinated and applied as needed to the challenges facing the outposts. The more players with abilities relative to each unique challenge, the better the chance of success. The more players involvement in this encounter, the larger the return and impact to this angle of the story. In addition, each "area of focus" will have more information or expanded impact based on the encounters chosen and supported by the players and their relative skills and efforts. Player Resources and Organization actions can also be applied to the encounter focus this month.
2) PERSONAL RESOURCE USE BOOST: This optional encounter is available for players to enhance their current Resource skill endeavors that are not focused on the main encounter of the month. Choosing this option will be a significant boost, similar to enhancing a Resource skill effort with Clout. This option must be paired with a Resource skill usage by a PC that has Resources currently active.
3) PERSONAL ORGANIZATION ACTION BOOST: This optional encounter is available for players to enhance their current Organization Action endeavors that are not focused on the main encounter of the month. Choosing this option will be a significant boost, similar to enhancing a Resource skill effort with Clout. This option must be paired with an Organization Action and the effort will be applied to their monthly actions.
4) DOWNTIME ACTIONS: This optional encounter is available for players to either focus on healing and repairs, making money, or both. This option is more "to the point" and less narrative driven but allows players the option to work on recovery or earning coin. Relevant skills of the PC will be factored into this effort as well. This option does not require any Resources or Org Actions but relevant skills of the PC will be factored into the overall success.
The deadline for this involvement is Monday, January 17th.
Players who assist their involvement with the encounter with Resources or Organization actions will make a significantly larger impact on their PCs involvement, whether that be more impactful or more profitable.
At the end of the month, we will release a story narrative detailing out how the story progresses.
