== STORY INFO & SPECIAL MECHANICS ==
The research efforts last month in the Clan Nightriver village of Grajnatka proved valuable as the success of the research team was brought back to the City-State of Newhope. Celestial Arragones was pleased at the efforts that expanded on and refined divination methods which should further expand on the magical "tools" available to her team and her efforts. The economy boom that visited the village was appreciated by the Chieftain as trade increased and merchants reported that the mordok presence seemed to have dwindled to nothing.
With the research team returning to the City-State, they have also returned to their main focus and also their biggest obstacle... what are they to do next? Some scholars believe that many answers lie in the Dirge Swamp and beyond, the revelation of additional civilizations to the north being of utmost importance. Others believe that the very essence of magic itself and the phenomenon known as the Siphoning must be examined. Still others believe that expanding on the magical abilities of lost secrets and hidden knowledge should be pursued and the libraries of the survivors on Mardrun expanded on.
After last years efforts, there are many different angles to approach magical research and how to proceed. Celestial Arragones has been uncharacteristically silent in her future motives and her next course of action. Instead, she has decided to coordinate a social gathering in the City-State of Newhope territory and invite all to attend. The goal of the open invitation is to bring many minds and magical talents from across Mardrun together to discuss important topics, compare research notes, and further define her research teams' future efforts. As with any social function, people of note from across Mardrun may view this as an important political gathering; one to schmooze and interact with others in pursuit of their own interests.
With mordok raids seeming to be on the rise in and around the Shield of Mardrun and the tension between several Ulven clans still heightened from recent events, the distraction from such things is a welcome respite for those coming to be involved. The chosen focus and effort of the research team and those in attendance will greatly impact the next steps taken in unraveling some of the mysteries of the world and its magic.
= EVENT SPECIAL MECHANICS =
1) Research & Study
Although this is a political function and representatives from various places may be in attendance, the main focus for this gathering is the invitation for others to come and interact with the current research efforts of Celestial Arragones. Her researchers will be in attendance and will even have some of their notes and efforts with them that can be collaborated on. This could have beneficial results for future research efforts.
2) Causing Trouble in the City-State
Any players that attempt to steal or start a fight and run in the assembly hall will be subject to City-State Watch trying to detain or kill them (depending on severity). Characters can assume that "Newhope Watch officers are ever present, nearby enough to respond fairly quickly but not hovering over everyone at the assembly". Should a character be attempting to flee, dice rolls will be made to determine their fate.
3) Controlled Environment (Weapons & Trades)
Visitors to the assembly are being allowed 1 single handed weapon (sword, axe, mace, dagger, etc) unless they are officially part of the security force of the assembly (which would require prior approval in-game) or received special permissions in-game. This is not an out-of-game rule; this is an in-game policy and players are free to adhere to it or break it if they so choose (but be aware there are in-game consequences).
Most Trade skills are allowed at this assembly due the potential need for different things during research or rituals (such as Alchemy, Healer, or Weaver). However, Trade:Blacksmith and Trade:Escort are explicitly forbidden by Celestial Arragones to be used at the function and all practicing Tradespeople are required to check-in with the City-State Organizer of the event.
4) Catering Stipend
The Assembly Coordinator of Newhope has made it publicly known that a stipend has been made available to help cater in foods for the political gathering. They are offering a small payment of silver for organizations and individuals who bring dishes to share at the dinner. The amount and quality of food brought to share will be factored into the silver payment and all dishes must be displayed in decorum legal trays/containers and have serving ware (like a large spoon to dish it out). All offered food will be placed on a food table for others to enjoy. This is purely optional and a fun way to incorporate players into the food of the event, and bringing an impressive dish could be a way to impress some visiting nobility...
If possible, please coordinate food being brought ahead of time by emailing us at lasthopelarp@gmail.com

= WEATHER CONDITIONS =
This event is indoors, but please be aware of driving conditions if they are bad.
= EXPANDED NPC ROLE SIGN-UP =
There are NPC roles available during this event. If you are interested in playing an NPC role, please contact us ahead of time to let us know... see below for options.
- The "Expanded NPC Role Sign-Up Deadline" is the same cut-off as the membership Early Bird deadline (by Thursday, 2/13/20) and this will add you to the list to get a more detailed or involved NPC. This gives us time to flesh out a backstory, details, and how your NPC can impact the scenario. The staff will then email you back your detailed NPC role before the event, usually a bit after the pre-reg deadline ends.
= EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT =
- The "Early Bird Discount Deadline" is the week before the event (by Thursday, 2/13/20) and this will place you on the list to get the pre-reg rewards and automatically add you to the "Faster Check-In" line, allowing you to register much quicker at the event.
= PC SKILL UPDATES =
- If you have updates to your PC, DO THEM AHEAD OF TIME AND EMAIL US THE CHANGES!!!
The deadline for these changes is the Tuesday before the event (2/18/19). You cannot do skill updates at the event and also be in the "Faster Check-In" as we prepare your card/bag/wristband/etc early in preparation of your arrival and day-of PCs can wait until after registration is complete for the majority of the player.
IF WE HAVE TIME, then we can update your PC skills.
There is no guarantee we can do this at an event due to the registration time needs.
= LATE PLAYERS =
We are following a strict time-block for check-in/registration so players will be expected to arrive on time to get registered and then attend the game briefing. This helps us make sure we stay on time and keep the game starting when we need it to. If a player is going to be late and they are going to arrive after registration closes, they are expected to notify the staff by emailing the lasthopelarp@gmail.com address to let us know. This allows us to pull the PC cards and info and prepare their items for when they arrive. Failure to do this will result in an exp penalty if a player arrives after reg closes but before the briefing, or a forced NPC role if the player arrives after the briefing. This does not mean we do not have wiggle room; all you have to do is notify us ahead of time via email so we can prepare accordingly.

= RESOURCE & LORE SKILL USAGE =
Players may have a PC(s) use a Resource skill to make an impact on an event but only if they are planning on attending the upcoming event.
Resource Usage for this event needs to be submitted VIA EMAIL no later than midnight on 2/5/20.
***UPDATE: The deadline for Resources being used for this event has been given an extension to Sunday, February 9th.
Information gained from this Resource usage will be available at Check-In at the event; IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ASK FOR THAT INFO! Players should please try to make sure they are going to be in attendance before sending in their Resource usage.
This is also a reminder to ask about Lore cards at check-in! Frequently, there are Lore cards available for you to read that represent your characters ability to know about things going on in the area. Some of this information can be really useful to know!
= MANDATORY CHECK-OUT =
All players are required to properly check-out at every event. Make sure you plan on doing this by seeking out a Herald to turn in your PC card and relevant game props along with you and your equipment's condition.
We will be doing a Check-Out after each day so that players can turn in their items.
If you checkout as a PC, you may not "check back in" after a period of time. Once you check out as a PC, your PC is done for the event day.
There may be limitations on how and where PCs can check out at an event; ask instead of assuming if you feel like your PC would leave early, and then staff can assign you a role after that.
