== STORY INFO & SPECIAL MECHANICS ==
A deep winter cold has settled into Mardrun, bringing an end to a brutal campaign to the north. Multiple ulven clans were involved in the first ever Dirge Swamp War and after heavy fighting and a coordinated retreat those forces have either returned home or have been stationed at the outposts in the Shield of Mardrun. It is estimated that almost two thousand ulven died in the war but an even greater number of mordok were slain. At this time, the mordok army in the Dirge have not pushed to the Shield of Mardrun and seemed to have simply faded back into the swamp.
Far to the south, the City-State of Newhope is going to be hosting an assembly styled political gathering and dinner. The City-State Council is already starting to plan what they will be doing and what they will be involved in for the upcoming year. Representatives, nobles, and people of note are being invited to this assembly. A gathering like this is a step above a public assembly, similar to what you would see in smaller villages, and a step below a swanky and exclusive political affair. Colonial and Clan representatives will be in attendance to talk to visitors and discuss all sorts of important topics and work towards their agendas. Those planning to attend would be wise to pay attention to customs, manner of dress, and avoid any social faux pas while interacting with others.
Their are two major topics rumored to be talked about at this gathering. The first being that a diplomat from Clan Grimward will be in attendance to talk about life on Mardrun after the Dirge Swamp War. The second being that a representative from Duchess Arragones will be in attendance to discuss a major breakthrough in magical research. Many believe this was due to the breakthroughs and focus last year on different magical projects and the successful evacuation of the scholars of Serai.
After a year of mobilization to war and a harrowing series of battles in the Dirge Swamp, the people of Mardrun look forward to seeing what agendas are on the minds of the different groups. Although seen as boring or stuffy to some of the more adventurous type, these assemblies can be critically important to digging for information, making yourself or your factions known to important parties, or learning what different groups are looking into.
Event Story Summary...
- The Dirge Swamp War against the mordok has ended
- The Ulven army that fought in the war has either disbanded or been stationed at the Shield of Mardrun outposts to the north
- The City-State of Newhope is hosting a political assembly gathering, providing a feast to those in attendance
- Representatives from various groups will be in attendance, talking about their agendas
- Political etiquette is important during assemblies like this
= EVENT SPECIAL MECHANICS =
1) Representatives
A number of representatives for various colonies, clans, and groups will be in attendance. They will be discussing topics important to their respective groups and interacting with them will be a great way to learn more about what is going on in the world. They may be seeking out different players or factions to get information from them to take back to their groups. Be aware though... proper social etiquette will be important in dealing with them! This would be a great opportunity to use Resources:Gather Info /Resources:Political ahead of time or interact with politically minded players to learn what these might be. Giving the wiki a good read in the Ulven FAQ, Syndar FAQ, and the Titles of Prestige and Peerage page a good read could be very useful!

lasthope.kitsufox.com/wiki/ulven-faq/
lasthope.kitsufox.com/wiki/syndar-faq/
2) Causing Trouble in the City-State
Any players that attempt to steal or start a fight and run in the assembly hall will be subject to City-State Watch trying to detain or kill them (depending on severity). Characters can assume that "Newhope Watch officers are ever present, nearby enough to respond fairly quickly but not hovering over everyone at the assembly". Should a character be attempting to flee, die rolls will be made to determine their fate.
3) Controlled Environment (Weapons & Trades)
Visitors to the assembly are being allowed 1 single handed weapon (sword, axe, mace, dagger, etc) unless they are officially part of the security force of the assembly which would require prior approval in-game.
Tradeskills that require physical setups (like Blacksmiths, Healers, Alchemists, etc) are prohibited during social and political functions. However, trades that do not require physical setups (like Bards or Companions) are allowed at the assembly.
4) Catering Stipend
The Assembly Coordinator of Newhope has made it publicly known that a stipend has been made available to help cater in foods for the political gathering. They are offering a payment of silver for factions and individuals who bring dishes to pass and share at the dinner. The amount and quality of food brought to share will be factored into the silver payment and all dishes must be displayed in decorum legal trays/containers and have serving ware (like a large spoon to dish it out). This is purely optional and a fun way to incorporate players into the food of the event, and bringing an impressive dish could be a way to impress some visiting nobility...
If possible, please coordinate food being brought ahead of time by emailing us at lasthopelarp@gmail.com

= EXPANDED NPC ROLE SIGN-UP =
There are NPC roles available during this event. If you are interested in playing an NPC role, please contact us ahead of time to let us know... see below for options.
- The "Expanded NPC Role Sign-Up Deadline" is the same cut-off as the membership Early Bird deadline (by Thursday, 2/7/19) and this will add you to the list to get a more detailed or involved NPC. This gives us time to flesh out a backstory, details, and how your NPC can impact the scenario. The staff will then email you back your detailed NPC role before the event, usually a bit after the pre-reg deadline ends.
= EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT =
- The "Early Bird Discount Deadline" is the week before the event (by Thursday, 2/7/19) and this will place you on the list to get the pre-reg rewards and automatically add you to the "Faster Check-In" line, allowing you to register much quicker at the event.
= PC SKILL UPDATES =
- If you have updates to your PC, DO THEM AHEAD OF TIME AND EMAIL US THE CHANGES!!!
The deadline for these changes is the Tuesday before the event (2/12/19). You cannot do skill updates at the event and also be in the "Faster Check-In" as we prepare your card/bag/wristband/etc early in preparation of your arrival and day-of PCs can wait until after registration is complete for the majority of the player.
IF WE HAVE TIME, then we can update your PC skills.
There is no guarantee we can do this at an event due to the registration time needs.
= LATE PLAYERS =
We are following a strict time-block for check-in/registration so players will be expected to arrive on time to get registered and then attend the game briefing. This helps us make sure we stay on time and keep the game starting when we need it to. If a player is going to be late and they are going to arrive after registration closes, they are expected to notify the staff by emailing the lasthopelarp@gmail.com address to let us know. This allows us to pull the PC cards and info and prepare their items for when they arrive. Failure to do this will result in an exp penalty if a player arrives after reg closes but before the briefing, or a forced NPC role if the player arrives after the briefing. This does not mean we do not have wiggle room; all you have to do is notify us ahead of time via email so we can prepare accordingly.
= RESOURCE & LORE SKILL USAGE =
Players may have a PC(s) use a Resource skill to make an impact on an event but only if they are planning on attending the upcoming event.
Resource Usage for this event needs to be submitted VIA EMAIL no later than midnight on 2/5/19.
***UPDATE: The deadline for Resources being used for this event has been given an extension to Friday, February 8th.
Information gained from this Resource usage will be available at Check-In at the event; IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ASK FOR THAT INFO! Players should please try to make sure they are going to be in attendance before sending in their Resource usage.
This is also a reminder to ask about Lore cards at check-in! Frequently, there are Lore cards available for you to read that represent your characters ability to know about things going on in the area. Some of this information can be really useful to know!
= MANDATORY CHECK-OUT =
All players are required to properly check-out at every event. Make sure you plan on doing this by seeking out a Herald to turn in your PC card and relevant game props along with you and your equipment's condition.
We will be doing a Check-Out after each day so that players can turn in their items.
If you checkout as a PC, you may not "check back in" after a period of time. Once you check out as a PC, your PC is done for the event day.
There may be limitations on how and where PCs can check out at an event; ask instead of assuming if you feel like your PC would leave early, and then staff can assign you a role after that.
