== EVENT INFO ==
= PRE-REG FOOD & DRINKING WATER =
Pre-registered players will be provided a small meal on Saturday. Only pre-registered players (PCs, NPCs, Monsters, etc) will be added to the list for food as this helps us plan ahead of time.
*** You should plan on bringing some extra food and snacks to tide you over as no food will be provided the rest of the day. *** We WILL be providing feastware for the feast as the meals will be during the 1 hour break.
There will be some water brought in for use during the event, but players should plan to bring their own and carry it with them.
** Plan ahead, be self sufficient, and bring your own food/water! ***
= CAMPING, BATHROOMS, FIRES, WATER, & ELECTRICITY =
- There is NO CAMPING available at this event.
- There is a port-a-potty available onsite for use and there are also gas stations right across the street from the location.
- Campfires are allowed as long as they are PRE-APPROVED BY A HERALD and either in an above-ground firepit or dug into a below-ground firepit.
- There is running water at the site, but it is recommended that players bring their own drinking water.
- There is electricity available at the location in the out-of-game area, but players should not rely on it other than for emergency charging or use.
= REGISTRATION AREA & PLAYING FIELD INFO =
Apoc Paintball:
- The main registration area will be at the UPPER PARKING LOT of Apocalypse Paintball.
- Players will need to park at the UPPER PARKING LOT; the field will need the closer parking for their own staff and Paintball players
- The paintball field is live and will have players until 5pm, so Last Hope players are NOT to enter the field anywhere unless it is in the specified location we are playing at and with the rest of the group. This means we will be in the back trails of the property for part of the event.
- Players are NOT to climb on anything that is not designed to be climbed on; don't scale walls or climb on things that are dangerous. Use walkways, ramps, ladders, etc.
- Exact boundaries for the event will be discussed at the game briefing.
= NIGHT CONDITIONS =
This event will not feature any night conditions as it will end early enough to not need them.
= WEATHER CONDITIONS =
This event is in October, so plan accordingly! We will have loaner garb for NPCs but please make sure to plan to bring extra layers to keep warm; gloves, boots, etc. Bring layers. Temperatures can be warmer during the day and dip down quite a bit (especially if we run around and sweat) at night.
*** Base/thermal layers do not need to fit Decorum but outer layers do... please make sure you get your garb checked! PLAN ACCORDINGLY! ***
= PLAYER CONTRACTS & TUTORIALS =
All players MUST go through a Player Contract each year.
We will be doing player contracts before the event on Saturday during registration and will be doing combat tutorials and rules update training for 1.5 rules.
= NPC ROLE SIGN-UP & PRE-REG/PREPAY =
There are several NPC roles available during this event and NPC players will have a split role since the two scenarios are happening the same time. If you are interested in playing an NPC role, please contact us ahead of time to let us know... see below for options.
There are no dedicated monster roles needed for this event, so there is no option available for the "Dedicated Monster - Free entry" for the September event.
- The "NPC Sign-Up Deadline" is the same cut-off as the pre-pay deadline (by Friday, 10/20/17) and this will add you to the list to get a more detailed or involved NPC. This gives us time to flesh out a backstory, details, and how your NPC can impact the scenario. You are also required to pay ahead of time via the pre-reg/pre-pay options AND EMAIL US to let us know what kind of NPC you prefer. The staff will then email you back your detailed NPC role before the event, usually a bit after the pre-reg deadline ends. This will also earn you 5 exp per event day instead of the standard 3 NPC exp per event day.
- The "NPC Pre-Reg/Pre-Pay Deadline" is roughly a week before the event (by Friday, 10/20/17) and this will place you on the list to get the pre-reg meal. Even if you miss the NPC Sign-Up deadline, you can still pre-reg/pre-pay for an NPC role to get the provided meal but it may not gain you a detailed role and you will only earn the standard 3 exp per day.
= PC PRE-REG / FASTER CHECK-IN / LATE PLAYERS =
- The "PC Pre-Reg/Pre-Pay Deadline" is the a week before the event (by Friday, 10/20/17) and this will place you on the list to get the pre-reg meal and automatically add you to the "Faster Check-In" line, allowing you to register much quicker at the event.
- Players who miss the Pre-Reg/Pre-Pay deadline may still sign up or the "Faster Check-In" by emailing us ahead of time. (By Wednesday, so NO LATER THAN Midnight, Tuesday, 10/24/17) If you have updates to your PC, DO THEM AHEAD OF TIME AND EMAIL US THE CHANGES; you cannot do skill updates and the "Faster Check-In" as we prepare your card/bag/wristband/etc early in preparation of your arrival.
We are following a stricter time-block for check-in/registration moving forward, so players will be expected to arrive on time to get registered and then attend the game briefing. If a player is going to be late and they are going to arrive after registration closes, they are expected to notify the staff by emailing the lasthopelarp@gmail.com address to let us know. This allows us to pull the PC cards and info and prepare their items for when they arrive. Failure to do this will result in an exp penalty if a player arrives after reg closes but before the briefing, or a forced NPC role if the player arrives after the briefing. This does not mean we do not have wiggle room; all you have to do is notify us ahead of time via email so we can prepare accordingly.
= MULTI-SCENARIO EVENT SPECIFIC MECHANICS=
This event will run a two scenario format. This will allow us to cover two entirely different angles of the situation at the Spire during the same event. Here is a list of a few event specific details...
1) Players may only play ONE of their PCs during ONE scenario. During the other scenario, they will fill in as one of the available NPC roles. Make sure you pre-register; that will help us with some preliminary planning.
2) The first scenario and second scenario are running "roughly at the same time" in the game world, which means PCs cannot be involved in both scenarios.
3) We ask that if you have it, please bring extra garb to change into during the scenario changes so that we can try to theme the NPCs a certain way. Earth tones and regular peasant/general attire works great.
4) Some scenarios may have a restriction on how many PCs can sign up for them; this is in the interest of fairness and balancing the scenarios so they are more realistic.
5) Because this event is PVP conflict oriented, we are asking players to note which side their character identifies with during this event when they pre-register... Pro-Archon, Pro-Allied Group, or Neutral. This is just to help us with some preliminary planning and NPC balancing.
PCs will be placed on a first-come first-serve scenario for the event; make sure you specify which scenario you
want to sign-up for when you pre-register! We will place PCs on a waiting list to finalize day-of, but pre-register early to make sure you are able to play the event scenario you want to.
= EVENT SPECIAL MECHANICS =
This event will feature several special mechanics. These will be detailed more during the briefing at the event.
1) Fence/Walls
We will be constructing a fence wall to replicate some of the defensive/home field terrain of the Spire settlement. This will be a simple fence but it will be tied and will be considered "fortified" and cannot be broken or knocked down during the event.
2) NPC Respawns/Rally Points
Should a fight break out, both sides during both scenarios will have "Rally Points" identified with a marker. Attacking the opposite teams Rally Point does nothing to assist in the overall outcome of the scenario. These Rally Points are simply an area where NPCs for each side can reinsert either by dying and returning to the Rally Point or being wounded and being dragged back to the Rally Point. There will be a tally sheet at the Rally Point to keep track of wounded and dead fighters during the scenarios.
3) Control Points, Control Marker, & Unit Missions
Should the scenario turn into a fight between both sides, we are going to be using a simple "domination" based mechanic. To simulate this, we will have 3 Control Markers placed on the field that show a general idea. For example, "Outside the settlement", "At the Gates/Farms", and "Inside the settlement" for each scenario. Forces will need to move a "Control Marker" which will be a wooden pole with colors on each side (Blue for Archons, Red for Allied Group). This marker shows the frontline of control and needs to be moved to show the area that is under control and the proper color displayed. We feel like this will be the best way to show a protracted fight/siege of a settlement instead of focusing down on a single battle or confrontation. If a side is able to push ahead and move the control marker to the farthest control point from their Rally Point, they will be able to send in scrolls that represent calling up units "off screen" to conduct missions. Examples could be raids on the settlement or supply lines, or trying to hit the camps of each of the forces. Controlling this furthest point is risky and difficult, but being able to deploy these "unit missions" off screen will allow each side to further solidify their hold of the area or their impact during the siege.
4) PC Escapes
Due to the nature of this event, there will be special rules enforced in any PCs attempting to "flee the area". This will go for both sides of the conflict; with units moving around the base camps and the settlement being attacked, we have decided that it would be fair that any PC regardless of affiliation (Archon or Allied Group) would be subject to dice rolls at the end of the event to see if they escape, are captured, are injured, etc. Certain skills like Lore:Survival and certain trades could influence this dice roll. The outcome of the scenario will also heavily impact the outcome of any PCs trying to flee during the scenario.
= RESOURCE USAGE =
Players may have a PC/PCs use a Resource skill to make an impact on an event but only if they are planning on attending the upcoming event.
Resource Usage for this event needs to be submitted VIA EMAIL no later than midnight on 10/5/17, following our standard Faction & Resource use/actions deadline. Information gained from this Resource usage will be available at Check-In at the event; IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ASK FOR THAT INFO! Players should please try to make sure they are going to be in attendance before sending in their Resource usage.
= MANDATORY CHECK-OUT =
All players are required to properly check-out at every event. Make sure you plan on doing this by seeking out a Herald to turn in your PC card and relevant game props along with you and your equipment's condition.
We will be doing a Check-Out after each day so that players can turn in their items.
If you checkout as a PC, you may not "check back in" after a period of time. Once you check out as a PC, your PC is done for the event day.
There may be limitations on how and where PCs can check out at an event; ask instead of assuming if you feel like your PC would leave early, and then staff can assign you a role after that.
== STORY INFO ==
At the Gates
Saturday, 11am to 2pm
Tension grips Mardrun as a combined force calling themselves the Allied Group has marched to the foothills of the Spire. Home to the Archons, the Spire residents begin to raise concern over an organized force arrived at their doorstep. A treaty has been delivered and verbal exchanges made among the Spire settlement and the Allied Group's camp. The Archon's independence from outsiders is threatened as the treaty states several terms, including bringing in a wanted criminal, controlling research, and payment of reparations as a fine. The Allied Group seems steadfast in their treaty details and has given the Archons a timeframe; by the 28th day of October, at noon, the Allied Group expects an answer to be given be the Archons and how they want to proceed. This will give each side of this conflict a chance to negotiate moments before a decision is made.
At the Farms
Saturday, 3pm to 5pm
As the events at the gates unfold, the farms of the settlement of the Spire are quiet... for now. The Allied Group has laid siege to the farms, cutting off the farmers from the critical fall harvest. Farmers, Spire defenders, and soldiers of the Allied Group stare each other down quietly but ready to act at a moments notice once a decision is made at the gates. Should the defenders be able to break the siege on the farms, it could allow them to continue harvesting to gather much needed food and supplies.
A special thread has been setup to allow in-game proclamations and verbal exchange for PCs involving themselves in the upcoming event. Players are welcome to read or join in on the thread, just please make sure to keep all exchanges or addresses in-game and from characters.
